NEWS UPDATE - Wheels for All –

working to provide cycling opportunities for everyone to enjoy

 

1          Temporary move to Wythenshawe:

The Cleavley Track, Winton, Eccles is being refurbished! Wheels for All cycling sessions using a wide range of specially adapted cycles (handcycles, quadcycles, tricycles, recumbents – for one and two people) can be enjoyed there until 21st May and then after that at the Athletics Track, Wythenshawe Park from 28th May 2004 until further notice.   Telephone Lee Eckersley on 0161 745 9944 to make your booking  (Fridays – other days by arrangement) Sessions cost just £7 per cyclist per hour (£50.00 group booking - up to 10 cyclists – larger numbers by arrangement)

 

2          Introduction to Cycling for Disabled People Course

Please note that for Health & Safety reasons we are running training courses on cycling for disabled people, aimed at carers/interested persons.  At least one person (and preferably all people) accompanying each group/individual should attend.  Learn how to get the most out of each cycling session!    Carers/teachers may bring their clients prior to attending a training course, but should make every effort to book on a course as soon as possible.  The cost is just £50 per day plus VAT.  FREE – FREE  PLACES ARE AVAILABLE TO SALFORD AND MANCHESTER BASED GROUPS/ORGANISATIONS – funded by Community Chest

 (ATTENDEES RECEIVE 2 FREE CYCLING SESSIONS FOR THEIR CLIENTS)

24th & 26th May 2004 10.00-4.00 at the Cleavley Track in Salford

17th & 23rd June and 1st July at Wythenshawe Track.

3          FREE – FREE Cycling Taster Days

 for groups of children with disabilities (funded by BBC Children in Need) – We come to your venue with a range of special cycles - Call Phyllis Nener or Hermine Briffa to book your day 0161 745 9944 (limited number of free days to give away, so don’t delay)

 

4          Report on Cycling for People with Disabilities & Differing Needs £11.50

Lots of information – an invaluable reference book

We suggest that each organisation keep one available for carers, teachers & cyclists

 

5          Cycling sessions for able bodied people:

Would your group like an opportunity to learn more about cycling and cycles for disabled people.  If you wish to book a cycling awareness session at Eccles/Wythenshawe for a group of people who are not disabled, then the rate is £7 per person per hour, minimum of 8 participants each hour, else there is a minimum £50 cost.
