General Training course information:

Bikelinks run several different types of training course a year, varying from Cycling Safety, Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, Fundraising and dealing with difficult behaviour. The majority of these course are run from the North West of England, however we could run these regionally if demand is high.

The standard cost for courses is £600.00 per day plus VAT. Community qualifying groups may recieve free places for any of the Bikelinks or Wheels for All courses, except for administation/certification costs for Safe Cycle Assessment or Bike Mech attendance which is £40.00 per head plus VAT

Current training courses:

  • Safe Cycle Assessment - 1 day - certified course . Aimed at providing legal protection for cycling activity providers who need to check bikes for their safe mechanical condition.This is run stand alone if you dont wish to attend the bike Mech course, but require hands on bike mechanics instruction.
  • Safer Cycling, incorporating Safe Cycle Assessment ( without the hands on!), 1 day running activities for the Community, includes and overview of Law & liability, needs of the individual, planning, risk assessment, insurance requirements and a practical session on running an activity.
  • Bike-Mech, Dates available, Salford 20th /21st September
  • Bike Mech Details: A maintenance course- 1-2 days - Day 1 is for tutors and includes Health & Safety, Workshop tools and their use and Pre Delivery standards. Individuals can be booked for just the Day2 bike specific maintenance course. This course is aimed at deliverers of training to groups, to which course material in the form of a CD of presentations and a course manual are supplied at a resonable cost. Any propective tutors will have to undergo an assessment before Bikelinks will release the course material .We strongly recommend Safe Cycle assessment/Safer Cycling course to be attended first..

The Bike Mech course material is £75 (annual subscription for updates £25) which includes a CD ROM and 10 course manuals, plus £120 for a days assessment/mentoring when delivering your first course. Individuals can attend the Day 2 of the Bike Mech course for a charge of £59.00 plus VAT, subject to a funded course being available. This includes a copy of the Haynes Bike Book as a reference guide.

For Government funded groups the costs are £1200.00 for the full 2 day maintenance including the cost of the support material.We can take bookings of up to 8 attendees. Travel and lodgings are not included and would be charged at cost.
